Hello Cougars and Friends!
Many classmates have expressed an interest to get together in between regular reunions, so mark your calendars for a “TAILGATE REUNION PARTY” on Friday night, October 8, 2010 before the Courtland vs. Spotsy football game!
CHS'84 is coordinating this first-time event with Robin Hitt Minner, CHS'82, who actually came up with this fun idea!
Remember when Spotsylvania was the only high school in the county? Then... along came their rival, Courtland High School in 1981? Although the addition of a second high school split the student body, it created rivalry and only “doubled the school spirit” between the Spotsylvania Knights & the Courtland Cougars!
If you attended Spotsy, Courtland or both schools during this era, you are cordially invited to meet up with old classmates & friends, show your school spirit & share some memories during the:
"TAILGATE REUNION PARTY” before the Courtland vs. Spotsy Football Game
* Friday, October 8, 2010
* Tailgating begins at 5:00 pm
* Courtland High School Parking Lot, 6701 Smith Station Road, Spotsy, VA
* Football kick-off time is 7:30 pm in the Cougar’s Den. Purchase your game tickets directly from the CHS Ticket Booth; $5 per person, ages 5+
WHAT TO BRING:
* Your Cougar Spirit!
* Classmates, family & friends!
* Tailgate canopy tent, decorations & lawn chairs!
* Tailgating games, music & fun!
* Your own food & NON-alcoholic beverages!
* Grills are permitted; however, the on-site sale of food, beverages, etc. is strictly prohibited. The CHS Concession Stand will be open for such purchases.
WHAT TO WEAR:
* Blue & silver, of course! How about those old cougar sweatshirts, football jerseys, letterman jackets, etc?
SPREAD THE WORD:
Please spread the word of this event to fellow alumni & staff who attended Spotsy &/or Courtland during this most memorable era! Let's make this an annual event!
THE CHALLENGE IS ON:
It is our hope each class, from both schools, will set-up their own canopy tents and be well-represented during this "Tailgate Reunion Party!" Which school & class will show the most SPIRIT? CHS'84 will definitely have their canopy tent in place! GAME ON!!!
LOCATION NEEDED:
Wouldn’t it be fun to also have a post game BONFIRE party? Looking for a possible location near CHS & planning assistance with this. All suggestions appreciated!

A good time was had by all during our 25-Year "Weekend Celebration" held October 16-18, 2009.
Despite Friday night's rainy football game, the Cougars blew the Eastern View Cyclones away with a 27-0 "RAW MEAT" victory!
On Saturday night, we took an amazing trip down memory lane. Our evening festivities were held at the Riverside Center and included:

We concluded our festivities on Sunday with a Family Pizza Party at the Spotsylvania YMCA. We were honored to have several of our teachers join us too!
Much time and effort was put into this 25-year celebration and we thank our Alumni, family and friends who attended any or all of our events. We look forward to reading your comments and feedback on the Message Board.
